I follow Jean Martin Fortier and Curtis Stone's natural methods (not organic certified but practices the processes) I use no pesticides and use only certified organic compost. My plot is in a urban setting for I am utilizing the opportunity to turn my parents rental properties yards and creating a working sustainable garden and sell local produce to the local Kitsap Community. I am a first generation farmer and have been growing recreationally for most of my life and have been traveling the last three years and now I am settled back into my roots of Kitsap County to establish a local urban farm.
Yes, I do what I can to help the cause of growing locally and helping others. In the summer, I helped Sass at Share the Wealth Organics in Tacoma harvest and assemble CSA boxes for her clients in which she grows food on 1/8 of an acre. I am always researching about sustainable permaculture methods to utilize on my plot to enhance organic matter and have a sustainable biodynamic garden plot. Although, I am just starting producing commercially I am determined to help build, discuss, and collaborate in creating a sustainable local food system that is accessible to the Kitsap County.
